Having knee surgery has proven to me that there are certainly things that only Moms do. Ryan has been a wonderful help. He has filled in the best he can trying to make dinner, get kids to bed, and keep some kind of order in the house in addition to taking care of me (a high needs patient). He has had to do both a Mom and a Dad's work and I appreciate it so much. I have noticed, though, a few things that only Moms do best and made up a small list.
- Only Moms pick up the socks and underwear that almost made it into the dirty clothes basket and put them inside.
- Only Moms care how often you have a bath or shower.
- Only Moms look to the left AND right when doing the dishes and include the counters and stovetop.
- Only Moms care if the table is still sticky from breakfast when setting the table for dinner.
- Only Moms make sure kids have washed hands before dinner and after using the bathroom.
- Only Moms wipe the food off faces and fingers after dinner.
- Only Moms sweep all the way under the table and in the corners.
- Only Moms can really keep up with the laundry and get it all done! (even if it's just for a minute!)
- Only Moms know what the difference between a dishrag, dishtowel, washcloth, and rag and when to use each one.
- Only Moms can kiss their kids a lot. And they are the BEST snugglers!
- Only Moms know what to do with all those papers from school.

Yep, Mom's are awesome! Your post reminds me of the e-mail about the mom who didn't do anything all day. I hope you feel better soon and recover quickly!
Amen on the dishes. At our house it is thought that doing dishes = cleaning the kitchen.
You really are super mom!!
That made me laugh! SO true. Good thing for MOMS!! :)
